It's a difficult balancing act, however, when you take on the celebrity role of CEO of a company like Apple, and you are the embodiment of all the success the company has achieved, the job comes with responsibilities- including a certain degree of truthfulness with your investors.
There's not much that can actually be done with an SSN and nothing more. A potential id thief needs a lot more to work with in order to acually do some real damage.
