    What, you find it unimaginable that I could have rescued one from the dumpster? How 'bout two? One of them is an original iMac with System 9. Mostly used as a display piece, next to my 60 year telephone, which is in perfect working order. The other is the one I'm actually using, an old PPC Mac Mini, so the best it will see is 10.4 anyway..

    It's time to face facts, the Mac is becoming a technical trinket for teeny boppers, that's where the big money is.. It will soon be a 27 inch iPad. Even Final Cut is suffering for it. I'm only saddened to see the pro market lose the best computer interface ever up to this point. Such is life

    On the contrary, Seeing a story like this on FOX gives it even more credibility. Normally they wouldn't dream of making the government look bad.. On the other hand, if their boy was in office, it's entirely possible they would have actually ignored it, or twisted it to make it look like some commie plot to discredit US policy..

    Which is rip off of the old Apple menu. And Windows 3.1 was a (very ugly) rip off of the original Mac desktop interface

    Restore partitions are garbage.

    If the drive fails, yes, but they're very convenient for those machines without built in CD-ROM drives.. Usually I can get their docs and apps off the drive when booting from a Linux USB stick (provided it's a big one), then do the restore.. And the beauty of Apple is that most apps can simply be copied back in place, no 'install' required.. puts it miles ahead of the PC

    Presumably, they'd have it cached on-site in their stores so that it wouldn't take long at all.

    They all used to be in the applications and utilities folder. What could possibly be simpler than that? And now it forces users to open an online account with Apple. That's not very nice.. There's no mention in the article, does it come down as a burnable iso? And how screwed are the people who just don't happen to have fast internet?

    Sorry you're so ignorant of the reality of power in the the US.. It's quite different from its "principals". much of it is well documented. And in the nature of all governments, past history is a very good indicator of future performance.. You are a true babe in the woods.. You choose to believe in theory above everything else...     I have not heard of any wiretapping abuses by the FBI recently.

    I guess that means it doesn't happen, right? I mean, our innocent little lambs would never destroy evidence now, would they? Of course nothing will come of it. You're not to be taken seriously..

    Authority should come at a very high price.. They should have to prove they're not violating the rules they impose on us.. Consider them guilty until proven innocent to keep them in line

    All this makes the tin hatters look a bit less crazy..

    :-) Probably depends on the browser you use. We're all beta testers here these days. For instance, some of us are testing the forum software's ability to open links on click.. Seems that everybody is getting different results.. Just like people, each program interprets the same instructions in their own unique way
