While this is true, also if you leave the potatoes sitting long enough, you can then obtain a vodka-powered web server, at which time it can be sold to Boris Yeltsin.

  2. Re:Innovation - NOT! on Mac OS Mach/BSD Kernel Inseparable · · Score: 1

I hate to break it to you, but It's Apple that does the true innovation. Apple released the first mainstream GUI with the Lisa, only to later have their designs stolen by microsoft. (And No, Apple did NOT just take the GUI form Xerox PARC, most of the GUI was completed before they bought all of the ideas from Xerox.) You'll also notice that the Mac is the only supercomputer available to the normal user (a supercomputer is defined as any computer capable of 1 billion operations per second, so even though the G4 is at 500 Mhz, it can do something aroud/above 4 operations per cycle.)

Am I wrong, or is this going to be enough to send a probe? with that much energy freely available, there has to be the possibility of life, at least at the primitive scale.

  4. Re:Anyone tried *nix versions of IE? on IE For Mac OS X == MS Apps For UNIX? · · Score: 1

I prefer NS6 over Communicator 4.7, and either one over IE5. This, however, isn't just flat out hating MS. First off, I haven't used Windows in months, second, NS6 is much faster, and third, IE is just too vulnerable (I have a Pentium w/ the f0 0f bug, which is prob. under Linux, but windows, which doesn't have the workaround, with IE, which allows the bug to be put into effect with a simple ActiveX control, is not a good combination. As for the appearance, it doesn't look all that bad to me, but then again, I need a new monitor (a wire broke, so now everything is blue). In regards to Unix ports of MS apps, I don't think it'll happen anytime soon, one of the reasons being that MS won't have anything to do with aything htat is open source, unless it's under an NDA.

  5. Re:memory problems? on AMD Thunderbird And Duron Set For June Launch · · Score: 1

I wouldn't think so, unless it's higher quality, and it may do just the opposite, boosting sales for those companies that make RAM, as there are those who will do anything to get an Athlon, and will therefore think they need new RAM, so they go out and buy the 'Athlon compatible' kind, which will be marked at a higher price, of course

  6. Re:parts? on Windows Source Code Proposal Confirmed · · Score: 1

I would assume that thee parts would be the APIs, which could be VERY useful, especially for WINE, as it would make it much easier to full implement them for Linux, Unix, FreeBSD, etc. Yet annother use for this would be to improve the speed of other non-MS apps running under Windows. Besides, who knows? Some good code may actually be found.
