It takes a tremendous amount of preparation to do well the the National Spelling Bee. Given that he won that competition as well as this one, I think it is much more likely that he is a highly intelligent, motivated young man.
I usually have the opposite problem. I want to reply to everyone included on the email, but I forget to hit reply all. I need to have an option to have the computer ask me what I intended to do every time I reply to an email with multiple recipients. It would be annoying, but that's the price I pay for my absent-mindedness.
"Rossi and Focardi’s paper on the nuclear reactor has been rejected by peer-reviewed journals, but the scientists aren’t discouraged. They published their paper in the Journal of Nuclear Physics, an online journal founded and run by themselves, which is obviously cause for a great deal of skepticism."
I like this idea if they can implement it well. I always find reviews on Amazon useful when purchasing other products. This could be a helpful tool for finding some really good applications. It all depends on the implementation and if they can convince good developers to see their apps there.
Based only on the video, this looks like it could be very useful for students working with smaller Java assignments. The interface looks intuitive, and seems to be designed for people who like to visualize the flow of their code. The debugger also looks more intuitive than many of the ones I've seen. However, I shudder to think how messy the interface could get if you were working with a large project.
Each team member works almost 100 hours per week without pay? Suddenly my work schedule doesn't seem so bad. I'm guessing that most of them are taking a full load of classes as well. This sort of dedication must be the reason MIT has such a good reputation.
Are we looking at a serial competition-enterer?

Everything about this seems like a scam.

Sadly, your average American juror might find that logic compelling.
So this is more efficient than just storing the electricity? That must say something about the sad state of current battery technology.
