Check out exacqVision. They have standalone hardware and recording software solutions. It supports analog and IP cameras, motion detection, and motion sensors. I use the Windows version where I work, but they have a Linux version of the client and server software. The software allows you to connect one IP device for free and you have to pay to license each IP device beyond that. I think you have to contact them to get a demo login to download software from the site though.
