not new - just modular. There are replacement GINA's that do different methods of authentication - but they are hardcoded - the plugin architecture of pGina allows for these and other past + new protocols.
Exactly right. It has been the missing link for us as well (the CSCE Dept itself, http://www.cs.plu.edu) as we now use it for LDAP authentication. Hope you find it useful, drop me a note if you have any questions!
You can replace the GINA interface in 2000/XP to support whatever you want. But for smartcard stuff checkout the discussion groups on www.codeguru.com and search for "GINA" - several others have gotten this working already, with no programming necessary.
Our school is in the design process right now on a new science and technology building. The architects used the Q3 engine to model a sample for us as well as providing RealVideo versions.

I gotta admit - pretty cool to load a map of a building on campus during those late night LAN parties....
Hands down - Visual SlickEdit. Linux, Windows, Solaris - works on all of them in EXACTLY the same manner. Context sensitive help for many languages (this is a godsend in Perl) etc. It can function as an ide through predefined and customizable shell commands and interactivity, it has its own scripting language for extended functionality, it can emulate Vi, BREIF, CUA, EMACS and others.. really, can't think of anything it can't do. Hell even the ugly code most people write can be "beautified" with the click of a button to match any predefined and customizable look.
Well, besides the security through encryption, you can utilize the zlib compression sftp/ssh provide to minimize bandwidth utilization. I have done several informal benchmarks and moved all of my servers (1000+ users combined) to sftp ONLY. Like I said, it may not have everything you want, but it is certainly better than FTP alone.
How about SFTP? It is an FTP like protocol layered ontop of SSH. While it may not have ALL the features you were looking for, it has the most important - security.
Ditto, while a tad pricey, there is very little (really nothing I can think of, but im sure somebody could name something) that this program can't do. And even then you can use the built in language to make it do it!
I am not sure whether it is available in your part of the world or not, but the Motorola T900 has served me quite well. Its a small, easy to type on, pager that can send/recieve messages via wireless devices or email. http://www.motorola.com/GSS/CSG/direct_pagers/T900/
The WebTTS product at http://www.gashalot.com/software/webtts/ is very nice. Its small, but has the core features. I also work at a university and made extensive modifications and now it works/looks beautifully. email me at cshelp@plu.edu for details if you want them.
Totally.. But I don't see much reason to be concerned, compliance is voluntary with anything. If we all simply refuse to buy new drives, or order older/used drives that do not employ this technology then the consumer wins right? So we are limited to the 2-80 Gig drives available now.. oh darn:-)
This sounds ideal, but wouldn't such mirroring easily bring legal trouble upon those doing it? This "league" would need to be anonymous in some way, or the offended party may just bring suit agains the league as a whole.
My company looked at using first the Genesis 3D engine (http://www.genesis3d.com) and then the Jet3D engine for the FPS we are working on. The engine has potential, but as others have commented, there is no linux support, and from the examination of the source tree I saw it does not look to be a quick and dirty port project. It may well be a detailed and well supported engine in a few years, but in the last 6 months that ive been watching it has changed from little to none at all. Of course Id have to agree with the previous comment, ID (http://www.idsoftware.com) has them beat by far, and you can work in linux on that one!
http://www.bynari.net InsightServer works with Outlook clients, supports shared folders and the like.

Suggest an alternative?
pGINA = Pluggable Graphical Identification and Authentication
Thats the great part of pGina ;-) If you can write code that would interface with a scale (say via the USB port) you could do this!
