As long as you follow PMS Programming standards you are fine. Most depends on you situation, most places don't have the budget to do things the "Best Way"
Very good post. Many developer snobs care more about their process than the actual product. That's what a masters degree will get you. I think you'd like PMS Programming Methodology.
Writing apps for a phone is a like writing 1/10 of a webpage display wise. Good coding / language doesn't matter that much. What really matters is how easy it is to get things done. I've used, C, C++, all sorts of Java, C# asp.net, but C# Silverlight is by far the best. The Visual Studio IDE is great, there is a ton of free forum support, and a lot of people are using it / (lots of sample code)
Another mis-informed post about silverlight. Look at the Silverlight tool kit, or Telerik controls for silverlight. Dropdown boxes will do everything you want and more. You can put images in them, different types of searches based on the text you put in...
After silveright 3, it's been great to work with Silverlight as a developer. It's great for business applications and the best thing is you can download it and run it out of browser like a regular desktop application. HTML 5 might be fine for video, but there are many other uses for Silverlight or Flash.
I love all the Microsoft hating posts. Everything an article has the word Microsoft in it, people just pile on saying how much Apple is better.
I've heard that over 50% of computers have silverlight, and many broadcasts include the olympics require it. Silverlight is also the programming language for Windows 7 phone, and almost identical to the desktop language WPF. Silverlight isn't going anywhere.

Save the headaches and just use SQL Server
Yep, agree. SQL queries work and are easy to debug.
Agile got ruined by people who wrote books and taught classes on it. I like the PMS Programming model based on Agile better.
This would be great. Get rid of flash for silverlight and user expression blend. I guess they could keep PDFs.
I'm bboy360, it's important to have a good bboy name. Breakdancing gets all the chicks
Like people have said it all depends on your situation. What's horrible is if you have a system admin that doesn't understand that.

YOU ARE WRONG!
Both IDEs are FREE and many tools for SL are open source
