    Why would you write your own when there are plenty of C++ libraries that will do it for you? This is a really dumb critique of C++ but is constantly trotted out by ignorant people. You really think no one has written libraries for C++ to handle HTTP requests? Really?

    Ok. Co-routine libraries for C and C++ which list nearly a dozen implementations. I await the imminent 'but those aren't real co-routines' response. Did you even spend 2 seconds to Google this before shooting of your mouth?

    They were never dying. C and C++ underpin all OSes, the Internet, pretty much the multimedia apps you use, the vast majority of games/game engines, etc. and they are the implementation languages of all the 'hip' fad languages.

    You mean the current crop of grads who can't create software any more complicated than cookie cutter bullshit and are only able to do so because they rely on dozens and dozens of frameworks to do all the work? The hilarious thing is if you try to get these people to ever understand anything below the frameworks they are completely lost.

    Wow, that statement is even dumber than the ones mentioned in the summary. This just in: not everyone wants to be a paper pushing middle manager and actually want to keep a technological position instead. You sound like someone who would be terrible to work for.

    No, it doesn't. That's not how huge multinational conglomerates work. They are basically semi-autonomous companies under an umbrella company but they most likely interact very indirectly at best. This is why it's also silly to try to conflate Sony BMI with the division that makes Playstations when they are very far removed from each other.

    Boeing.may have a presence there but it's Everett plant in Washington is where its commercial planes are built. Not Kansas. So if he's trying to jump Boeing in he is quite misinformed.

    No, they CLAIMED to be like that. There's a big difference between the two. They were plenty fond Of getting the government involved in people's sex lives, their reproductive health choices, whether or not they used drugs, using the government to mandate school prayer on people, etc. Let us also not forget that it was under Reagan that the country went from being the world's largest creditor to the world's larget debtor (before you try to claim the whole republicans are fiscal conservatives nonsense).

    It's days aren't over. It's still used for SIMD optimization in game engnes, video/audio/image codecs, embedded work, etc. just because your janky LOB or bloated Java 'enterprise' apps don't use it doesn't mean it's over.
