I can second not needing any cell phone. I had one for a while and the main usage was tether/ball & chain/leash. (What time are you coming home? Can you pick up some from the store?)
But, living & working in Silicon Valley, you should see some of the funny looks I get when I say I don't have a cell. It causes most people to go a bit blank and not say anything for several seconds. Great fun.
