The major problem is usually the sourcing of hydrogen - but that has been solved in this case.

Um, why don't they just use the hydrogen as fuel? (of course, they might need to make modifications to current aircraft or even make new aircraft - but this is the military, they have money to burn)
Then they could use solar & wind power to make it and we could use their technology for civilian purposes and everyone would love one another and we'd live in a utopian dreamworld.
