From reading the posts, it seems like the general definition of an Easter egg is a hidden or secret part of a program that is entirely unessential/unrelated to the program itself...more of a 'bonus' type of thing. What about the dick on the poster of 'The Little Mermaid'? If I remember correctly, the artist that did the original artwork for the cover/poster of the movie got fired because of this.
I would imagine the Internet gradually becoming less used as a new "Matrix-NET" is invented. One where we will not have separate plugs/outlets for telephones, cable, digital signals, or even electricity to have to "plug in" to have access. Cable signals, voice transmissions, and everything will be carried over this new NET. Besides, I'm getting tired of having to splice & crimp cables when I decide to move an appliance or computer somewhere else. Having access everywhere and for everyone in the future is inevitable. I believe the technology of the future is already here, the only thing holding it back is greed and money.
I wonder if there would be any lag between a keypress and movement in Quake. Come to think about it, I wonder how fast the memory would fill up while playing Quake or some other FPS?
I personally believe in a difference in an idea vs. information. Ideas may contain information that comprises it, but information is ultimately what the real issue is. Who owns/controls the information? The current mp3 problem that the RIAA has is one brought upon itself. They wanted to control too much. Greed eventually will lead to it's own demise, which in this case has. It's been stated here by many others that if the music industry actually sold music at a reasonable price, the public would be much more likely to buy an album. If you think about it, the music industry is sort of a cartel, just like DeBeers. One of the wonders that the Net has done is put some of the control back into the public. I do have to add that this subject is becoming tiring. JonKatz, write a review on Mission To Mars.;)
