I would be insane to let them access social media while unsupervised. Social media is and will be part of their lives. They need to learn its dangers and advantages, and I am there to help them figure those out.
Thank you. Didn't know that word existed. With English passing 1,000,000 words recently, combined with me not being a native English Speaker, I hope I'd be pardoned for not being aware of its existence. But now I know:)
Who and who? I personally am a forum person. I despise Facebook, Twitter and the like. But I am smart enough to realize my holy crusade would be quite don-quixotesque. Instead, I am teaching my kids to use those platforms wisely, understand the dangers, avoid the traps. Will I be successful? I hope. For now, they are too small to understand, instead choosing to trust me with what I am telling them.
So... famine, lack of potable water and crushing poverty in vast regions of the globe fall under rank #3 and below?
On topic: I don't say I like where Social media is going, but it's a wave you can't stop, however you can ride it, together with your kids, minimizing its ill effects.
This has nothing to do with parents. It has everything to do with how society evolves. Keep your kid away from socializing online and they will become outcasts and misfits. You'd be proud as a parent and your kid would be fucked up.
Forbidding is easier than mentoring and guiding, of course.
Well... I got 5-star four times so far, 4-star three or four times, and the rest were 3s because I stopped giving a shit. If you get a 5, a 4 or a 3 you know you're not going to be fired, otherwise there's no difference other than bragging (to whom, I still wonder). Raises? They don't depend on that rating. I had 5 stars with no raise and 3 stars with 10% raise.
1-to-5 star rating can be used in many ways. There are cases where 1 is lowest, 3 is average and 5 is "bestest". My company uses this type of 5-star rating. Uber's 1-to-5 star rating behaves differently. You (be it either the driver or the rider) start with 5 stars, which means "100% of the expected rating". Any rating below 5 stars means something was wrong.
My rider Uber rating is 4.95. I know I got dinged once for accidentally slamming a car's door (wind plus me not being used with that car), not sure about the other couple cases.
I work late shift. During winter, when I start work it's dark already. As far as I'm concerned, fuck natural light. My number one office perk is a quiet environment.
Fail. PUBG has no narrative whatsoever, it's a "easy to play, hard to master", game in the like of Counterstrike, Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena. One of the reasons it's so popular.
3. Diablo III -- dev narrative
...with optional lore. You can play it without giving a shit about the narrative. Skip all dialogue, hack all monsters, win.
4. WoW -- dev narrative
Agreed. While you can play the game even while minimizing lore impact, sooner or later you will find yourself having to learn its essential aspects, otherwise you'd not be able to progress efficiently.
5. The Sims -- user narrative
Sandboxes are all like that.
Doom (2016) captures the essence of the original Doom
...and does ONLY that. It's why I disliked it after the initial "awww this brings memories back" feeling. Of course, many people liked it because they just wanted to play the old Doom with nicer graphics and shit. I wanted more than that, but I know I'm a minority so no biggie.
I really can't imagine the degree of cowardice necessary to actually pay someone to inform an employer that you're quitting.
The Japanese probably would see your method as barbaric and deeply impolite. Different cultures. Let's respect them as long as they aren't imposed onto us.
No, I don't need to prove my point given the previous statement was unfounded. You choose to believe the other guy? Fine, do so, see if I care. The first person making statements also needs to back them up.
I live in Europe, dude. Stop talking about things you don't know shit about. Guns are easiest to get in the UK, followed by France, both being at least an order of magnitude more difficult than USA. Worth mentioning that carrying guns without permit is illegal throughout Europe.
I said 120 years too late not according to when the right to bear arms was ratified, but according to when it should have been repelled.
I understand both points of view, but I'm leaning towards your side :P
FWIW you are the first :)

If you're not going to raise a kid according to your own values, then what's the point?
The point is to raise your kids according to current society, not the one you were raised in.
No, it's fine, I actually appreciate being taught new words. So all's cool.
Thank you. :)

...which was exactly my point.
Just like TV with the previous generation.

Applying hippopotamus sex behavior on ants doesn't quite work.

Indeed, it's a true sandbox game.

Considering that recommendation, we would still live in caves and not have started painting their walls...
When's the last time you saw a movie from Edgar Allen Poe?
No idea who the guy is.
Edgar Allan Poe, on the other hand...
See, you don't even remember names correctly.
Idea fragmentation.
I blame Twitter.
You shouldn't have banged her.
