As one of the Media3 people (changemedia.com) who have suffered from this debacle I have a hard time accepting that "oh well, a few innocent people get hurt". When I started finding out that people's emails to me were not getting through, and vice versa it was not a "ho hum" moment -- it is a dramatically bad moment. Try imagining yourself without reliable email -- not knowing if someone didn't write you back or if you just never got it; wondering what mail never came through that you'll never know about!
I'll echo the responses to those who say "it's voluntary" -- it is not voluntary for me, and 99.9% of the people who send me email haven't ever heard of MAPS and certainly aren't going to go changing their ISP because I suggested it.
The issue is not whether web content or email content is blocked, as some have complained on this topic about the original posting. The issue is that innocent people get screwed because of bad policy -- one that doesn't even solve the problem it tries to solve anyway.
Respectfully, that is bullshit.
