If the shortage is so critical and we need these people so badly, why not make them citizens straight-away? Is there any reason to believe they won't make good citizens? What are we going to do if we decide we don't need them anymore? Eject them like Germany was trying to do with the Turks? Auslander Raus? Labor costs are the misery-index of the rich and established.
