One of my hobbies is kayaking and canoeing. With three kayaks, two canoes, and all the other supplies needed just to be safe and fun, I already have more than $5,000 spent. Then tack on the price of traveling to the water whenever I want to get some paddle time in. I have no idea how much I have spent in the last five years, but I would say it's more than $15,000. I think that's money well spent, because it is for something that I have a lot of fun doing.
If WOW is your thing, and it's fun for you, then $1,000 per year is well worth it.
