Yeesh. It's not only a matter of "What will he do if I do this", but "What will he do if I do this while claiming to be doing that and on the side leaking false intel to make him think I'm doing this, when in fact I'm not doing much of anything at all...".

    Makes your head spin...

What, are you worried that people are going to abort their kids if they find out they don't have blond hair and blue eyes? Or be predisposed to mathematics instead of football?
    -SNIP-

I can guarantee you that will happen an awful lot. Just look at the quality of a lot of parents out there. They leave the kid in a car until he dies. Not change his diapers for a month because they didn't think they needed to. Dumb a baby in a garbage can because it's crying.

And you think these people will hesitate for a minute before aborting a child because it's not going to be the child of their dreams?

That's not totally accurate. The price would have to drop below the cost of mining it on earth, sticking it on a shuttle, and finally moving it out into space.

Compared to that cost, asteroid mining is pretty damn cheap. And either way, getting it back down from orbit is nowhere near as bad is getting it up in the first place.

It can't have anything to do with lines, since it's posted in html. Thus how many lines the message requires depends on the size of the window, and I don't see the Amish being able to do that.

But yeah, that picture probably has something to do with it. Probably tells the recipient what he needs to do to decode it.

You know, I'd really love to get a chance to see a real life MPAA/RIAA Upper Echelons meeting where they discuss things like DeCSS and MP3. Do TPTB honestly believe that their world will crumble and fall apart, leaving them penniless, destitute, and begging passing IT professionals for money if they don't make certain algorithms illegal? Or would they not care but they've got this crack team of accountants, lawyers, and marketing execs who swear up and down that their livlihood is threatened? Dyolf Knip

Anyone have links to ongoing space plane projects?
And can someone with an aerospace engineering degree tell me what the difficulties are in building one? One would think they'd be easier to do than a rocket launch since you can get lift for the first 15 miles or so, as opposed to going straight up.

It's so nice to hear people say that. My mom is an SLD teacher and some of the shit her students' parents give her is unbelievable. They think buying kids pencils for school is a major contribution to the education process. And then they get mad when their 8th grade prodigy utterly fails what would otherwise be a 2nd grade math course.

So many parents think the burden of education lies solely with the teachers, but they're wrong and their kids end up paying for it.

I plan to live forever, of course! Barring that, I'd settle for a couple of thousand years. Even 500 would be pretty nice.
