And this is just the point many linux people try to expose. What you really mean is that if it doesnt run your WinOS programs, then you will not be satisfied. Never mind that we have gimp, it's not the one you want and not exactly like MicroSoft. Thats the whole problem right there! If you demand it look like a duck, and walk like a duck and quack like a duck, fine, but if you demand that it really be a duck, (ie. MS Windows), then we cant help you. The best that you can ever hope for is to just buy the real duck and use it. Linux is not for you. The main thing about linux is that its not MS and never will be. Thats the beauty. If you dont like it dont use it. But dont complain that it doesnt do what you want. After all, we dont go complaining that we cant run programs on another MS machine and have output redirected to our screen. MS just doesnt do that. So we use linux for things it does well, and we use MS for things it does well.
Is it just me or are all the columnists suddenly unable to even install linux now, yet still able to describe how gawd-awful hard it is to use? I get the feeling that MS has set the hound dogs loose and they wont be happy until a penquin carcass is brought home, preferrably well chewed. I think its time to call the FUD attack what it really is... The BS attack! Man, if you cant install linux you shouldnt be using a computer, let alone writing about it.
You are AC so no way to contact you. But FYI, I bought quakeII just to support linux. Also I have paid for RedHat6.0, 5.0, and various infomagic CDs. Dont say we are unwilling to pay. We dont have that many chances to pay for commercial software to begin with, and much of what is extra charge on MS is free or built into linux. I dont need to pay for Unix compatibility tools or remote access tools because these things are in the OS or come with it for free. And there isnt really a commercial counterpart for most of the freeware except for network monitoring tools for large systems, and I dont need that for home use. But if there are games or something else I might want available commercially that are better than freeware I would buy them. You really can't fault me for not buying something that is not avialable for sale.
Please pass the bong, this guy's had too much crack.
Sorry, I wont refute the words. We can just assume this is just another MS plant.
Damn Bill, at least get competant guys to spread your BS around. Letting the tech support interns in on it rather spoils the effect of your "grass roots support" for MS.
He told you where to go look for unbiased users who actually run systems. If you dont want to look thats your problem.

This is what I wonder about. Why dont they just set MinSpareServers to 256 and MaxSpareServers to 512 so you wouldn't likely need to fork another server? I'm no apache expert, but wondering why you cant do that on the systems they use for benchmarks. It sure works wonders for single CPU systems with high end CPU's and lots of RAM. Each apache server only needs half a meg of memory to run in. Maybe there is something I dont know. What is it?

Thats why he writes for a living instead of actually doing it for a living. :-)
