Ok, so I've seen a lot of posts on here on the lines of "what do you expect - MS are trying to monopolise something else". I'd guess that there are a fair few programmers here with the skills to sort this one out instead of just moaning about it. I'm a software dev myself, and I can't see any reason why we couldn't come up with an ActiveX plugin for IE that could host Netscape API plugins. In fact, why not just put an ActiveX wrapper around Mozilla's Netscape plugin support? If it's done right, Microsoft's monopolistic actions would be completely circumvented and Quicktime would be available to everyone that wants it again.
Can anyone think of any reasons why this couldn't\shouldn't be done?
Probably with a similar scheme to email - eg Fred@ICQ and Fred@MSN. Maybe we'll see the same kinda cybersquatting happening with IM as domain names... That's a nasty thought.
Actually, I'd say that you're the one that doesn't know what you're talking about - "Require Variable Declaration" does exactly what it says on the tin - you have to declare variables, but if you don't initialize them VB will do it for you. You're right about variants though...
...I can't see the difference really.
I know I'll get slammed for even mentioning M$, but the example scenario that given at the beginning of the article is virtually identical to the one that M$ showed at their Profesional Developer's Conference last year when they unveiled.NET

And what about turbulance? What if a huge gust of wind hits the plane just before it fires? How likely is it to hit something completely unintended?

How many people will pay to use a proprietary format?
