Anecdotal data regarding training and expected skill.
My teenager is licensed to drive our car (Corolla) and our plane (Arrow). It costs me considerably LESS to insure him in the airplane than in the car. I believe the difference lies in the training required for the respective vehicles. Additionally, the deductible for the plane is only $100 (USD). For the car it is $1000. The downside is, requiring this high level of real training for a car would empty the roads. Wait, did I say "downside"?
