The Internet regulation piece seems to make sence but it doesn't. Why should anyone regulate access to the Net like they would liquor? Oh I forgot: corporations. They post more ads on the Web alone than complaints about Star Trek: Voyager on Usenet. My view is that *no one* should own TCP/IP and *no one* should regulate it nor Net access. Child porn should be removed since it's immoral but why bother adults chatting about sex on ICQ? We can take care of ourselves. We don't need the goverment and corporations to tell us what to think: thats why the Net makes them nervous. Besides, what right does our government have to regulate a global network of networks? None. Each nation must make it's rules about Net misuse but we shouldn't tell them how to do it. Just look at the legal problems faced by the Freenet Project and it's not even done yet. When it comes down to it, governments and corporations fear free information and they want us to be good little slaves. "1984" by George Orwell is the novel that will predict the 21st century.
