"Besides tht, I would seriously doubt that you can find MacSEs for that price."
I have 3 SEs that are in perfect condition that I will GIVE you I'll even put netBSD on a floppy for ya to install it with- Because they CAN run v 1.5.1 (is 2001-04-28 new enought for ya?)
Do you see an Athlon laptop? An Alpha laptop? A Sparc laptop? No. G4 is a workstation/server-oriented processor; it uses too much power and produces too much heat to be practical in a mobile device. If "portable" is extended to "any computer that can be moved from desk to desk very easily" which is often one of the main uses of laptops, would a Power Mac G4 Cube with an LCD qualify?
TYLTK (Thought You'd Like To Know)
The G4 PowerBook comesout in January!
NO, not quite. The official position of Apple is that the newer versions are not "supported". I have a PowerMac 5500 603e/225 mhz (4 yrs old)running OS 9 just fine -and a PowerMac 8550 604/180 mhz (5 yrs old)running OS 9 & OS X _AND_ OS X server.
