  1. Looking to get one on Experiences with the Sun Blade 100? · · Score: 1

I was looking to get one once I have the cash, but not yet. I like the idea of the Video Conf. system they have for it that runs on firewire but that is about an extra $250. As for upgradeability..... I know that you can get regular PC100 for RAM wich is dirt cheep compaired to Sun's prices. Look at Crutial.com or however you spell it for their Sun Blade RAM. Also from what I read in the specs online, it looks like it can only handel a pair 15 gig HD's which I would like to try to pass.

Actually, the Plenum jackets for airspace was originaly created because of one particular fire back in I believe in 1984 or so. There was a fire on an upper floor in a sky scrapper (something like the 18th floor,) and not everyone in the building evacuated. The duct work from the 18th floor was connected to the duct work on the 2nd floor through the HVAC recirculation path, and the fumes from the burning PVC jackets were toxic. People on the 2nd floor started getting severily sick and dying.

Once they found out why people died on the 2nd floor they changed the building codes to requior non-toxic, when burned, Plenum jackets in air spaces, such as false celings and raised floors. Now days, most of the new offices use the false celings for air returns to the HVAC so they need Plenum for everyting. Also you now need what is know as "fire stop" at all core drillings through firewalls to prevent the burnign jackes to carry the flames through to the other side where the fire will spread.

Hope this helps keep you following code.

I was wondering if anyone has come up with a way of doing some cheep testing/certifying of cabling in your home? It's not easy to borrow a $5,000+ certifier from a cabling firm, and I don't have the money to buy one either. I though of using a pair of old laptops with 100BT NIC's but I know of no software to do this. Anyone have any sudgestions? After all, if it was certified, you might get a bit more when you sell your house.

If this is for a gaming environment, use a little of the bandwith available in your arena and just run a simple voice chat program like M$ Netmeeting off of the PC's in the background. That is assuming that your running a WinXX shop for games with user bliss and you have ful duplex sound cards. Your FPS may drop, but not to much if you restrict the voice quality sampling rate. Besides I saw that M$ is now offering a multi-point Netmeeting host for W2k server now. They may have a demo or somthing.

No lost IP numbers, only a few extra ports in use, and you only need to buy some stereo headsets with boom mics, or offer your users to bring in their own $800 headphones and plug in a $5 mic that most manufactures give away now days.

Make you life easy and stop wasting money. If your running Linux, I'm sure there is something out there like Netmeeting for you, but I could be wrong.
