Yeah...there was also a "fun house" or something game that we played occasionally...I can't remember the name..but it had a bunch of weird games in it...I vaguely recall having to catapult balls in a carnival style or something. Not to be confused with Dr. Quandary...which was more of a Mac game...
True...forgetting oregon trail was a big mistake. I played that game for speed. Let the rest of my family die...it will only make me faster! That's how I played...
Mostly because of games like "Carmen Sandiego" and "Miniature Golf" that made the Apple II so much fun.

After watching the first video on this site, there is definite footage of two aibo's on the same team (same color) with one aibo's head directly under the "tail" of the other aibo. I don't know if they were going for realism and trying to have the dogs sniff each other, or if it was just a coincidence, but the effect is hilarious.
There are a bunch of videos here, they appear to be of varying sizes...though the first one I started downloading is still going strong and just passed the 42 meg mark...actually, right as I was writing this it stopped, so it is 43 megs...so the videos are big and long (hopefully). Enjoy.
I don't know which is funnier

Either the title: "Robocup" (hehe..do robots even need that protection?) or the idea of aibo's going against each other competitively. That's just hilarious! I wish I could be there.
Actually, at the camp I work at, they're building a big new building and wiring it all for internet access. My first response would be go wireless, but since that isn 't always feasible, I'd just say go the simple and tried and true route w/ cat 5. I mean...come on, can you go wrong with cat5?

I actually wrote an article similar to this on my webpage that discusses the lack of common courtesy and many of the problems with discussing things in email/instant messaging and messageboard style communication. I don't think it is that people don't have common courtesty, I think it has more to do with the medium of discussion and the false sense of intimacy and the obvious sense of anonymity. I guess I focused more on instant messaging, but the same things apply for message board style posting as well.
I've often thought about how many products use simple programs and stuff to run correctly...like traffic light systems...right now they work pretty well and everything goes together properly. However, the day that cities decide to have a central server run the traffic lights so they can...say, control traffic around accident areas...things will go wrong. The "foolproof" software will cause all sorts of problems.
I don't see this so much as software causing problems as much as the tendency we have to make what used to be simple things really complicated. One example I have in my life is a train system that runs around inside a building by the ceiling at a camp I work at. The system looks really nice..and it could work well. However, having a couple of electrical engineers volunteer their time to make the system made it very different. Now, what could have been a simple on off switch is a whole panel with an LCD display and all sorts of error lights and little IR detectors on the track to make sure the train is in the right place. It is a geek paradise...but the train NEVER works. Despite all the fancy assembly code they have running the whole thing, it doesn't work. An on/off switch would have worked..I'm certain of it!
As we complicate more and more appliances with complex software, there are going to be more problems. Heck..what's gonna happen next time your toaster oven timer crashes...you could burn down a house!
Exactly! After making my initial post, I realized that Spiderman coming out of the closet wouldn't be all that shocking to begin with...I'm sure after watching the movie most people could have assumed that.
Why does *every* superhero have to wear skin-tight suits? Decreased wind resistent *can't* be the only reason...
Stan lee just has to "discover" a couple of "unpublished" comic strips that involve Spiderman being gay and dying in some way. Sony and Marvel won't touch spiderman w/ a ten foot pole after that! The creative power is still in Lee's hands...he just needs to make use of it! Sony and Marvel will give up their claims...and Lee will get royalties galore! Easy solution.
Alright, this is obviously a hoax, because he would have *known* that he was going to get caught! Not only that, if we've learned anything about time travel from hitchiker's guide to the galaxy, we've learned that you don't need to make high-risk trades...just put a couple of pennies in your favorite bank back in 1860 and then live off the interest in 2356 or whatever year. Sheesh...this guy had no class whatsoever. He has *no* clue where his towel is.
Someone else pointed out in the above posts that Jobs denied that they made an "offer" but didn't necessarily deny that they were talking about the deal w/ Vivendi...I think taking on a record company would be a wise move for Apple, now they could have royalty free music for their "switch" commercials.:-)
I wonder what how the stock of vivendi and apple changed after the LA times announced the alleged talks of apple's plan to purchase vivendi...Seems like a pretty big announcement to simply be a rumor.
With the Ipod and itunes and all, I thought it would only be a matter of time until Apple got involved with a record label. I'm actually a little disappointed that this was all just speculation.

the first video is great...this is absolutely hilarious watching them move around and the way they maneuver to "kick" the balls.
Also, about 2 minutes in you totally see an aibo sniff the rear of another aibo....

I don't see how this is any cheaper than sticking a vhs up to your nose and inhaling.
Video sniffing...next thing we're gonna have an article on dry erase marker sniffing.

Yeah, you're right. Their first product would have been canned pork (I thought that was the same as spam)...spam came about in 1937 (proof). My bad.
Whoops! It looks like 1937 is a more accurate date for the first spam. I should have checked the "Spam Spanning The Decades" link first....
But, that still makes spam 66 years old...that's a lot more than 25...
Actually, Spam, has been around for over 100 years...just check the spam museum!
Hormel was started in 1891...way more than 25 years...in fact, last year the 6 billionth can of spam was made!
Video didn't kill any star. Most stars kill themselves...with drugs, despite what "The Presidents" say.

The caveman had something going for them...
So...basically people are just finding out now that not all software is as perfect as it is intended to be?
Great..I'm gonna have to explain this one to my parents...

yeah..I didn't even think about it until afterwards...what's worse is that the stock results are at the bottom of the cnet article! *ouch*
Yeah, I suppose you're right. But, it at least breaks down a barrier or so for playing music on your commercials and stuff.
And what we've learned today is that all you need is *one* news source to leak this rumor, and it suddenly becomes fact!! Someone call Foxnews!

Hmm, it actually looks like vivendi had a significant boost last week...and dropped yesterday after the announcement.
