  1. Re:MAPS use is voluntary, what's the beef? on MAPS Sued Again · · Score: 1

If CR finds that a particular Ford vehicle is less comfortable to drive than a comparable Chevrolet model, by polling test drivers or the general public, it's not illegal for them to report this. I don't see CR bring sued. It's also completely voluntary to buy and/or read Consumer Reports. Nobody is forcing it upon you.

Actually, at least one car company (Suzuki) brought a lawsuit against Consumer Reports over a negative review. CR won, which is heartening...

Also noticed that Katz pans Titan because it is derivative, but somehow doesn't address the same issue when he says Shaft was "more fun."

If I want a film review, I check out Ebert's website here, because when a movie is picked or panned, I like to know the reasons. I like to learn new things about the film under review, and about film history. I don't like long-winded versions of "good movie!" or "bad movie!"

I only read this "story" to check out the Katz-bashing. Got what I was looking for!

I'm shocked that one judge would presume to know exactly how the high-tech economy should evolve... Judge Jackson's ruling will divert innovative companies from creating better products. Worse, it will send the message to innovators around the world that in America we punish success. -- House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas
I guess we could have saved all this bother and just asked Dick about it in the first place. He knew what to do without benefit of research, testimony, or even, it seems, a shred of knowledge about any of the issues involved.

Sadly, all the regular people I talk to seem to feel the same way, simply because they don't know enough to make an informed decision. If only the LOVEBUG attachment would have forced each Outlook user to read a condensed version of the comments on /.

Dick Armey knows exactly how the high-tech economy should evolve...the first step in that evolution is DMCA.
