If self-replicating technologies and miniaturization were to reach a point where a pure machine intelligence was spawned, that intelligence would find humans to be no threat. Then, that intelligence would most likely leave. After all, it would have no reason whatsoever to stay here on Earth. Even if the machine intelligence were human - say a copy of a human's neural network - most likely that human would also leave. Because such a human would no longer be inhibited by our frailties, there would be no reason for that human to stay.
