I know HP is not known for it's Laptops, but about 3 months agao I got a Pavilion XH216
Pretty sweet for $1100. 15" Screen, Mini-PCI NIC/Modem, onboard CD-RW, 700 mhz, 128mb ram. All at 7lbs. The laptop will even play CD's without turning the complete system on.
