The most important thing is to have bandwidth, the second most important thing is a good OS, I suggest BSDi, then, a good router, like a Cisco 7507. That is about five figures or so.
I think that this man's troubles are quite *cute*, when I installed Linux on my laptop, it took a group of five friends, in different areas of expertise to get it up and running. XFree86, I did myself, and that was one of the hardest parts. Good luck:)
