I agree we need to use due-diligence but this seems like overkill for the problem and a stomp in the face. Just wait, next up there will be funding allocated for a scanner upgrade which actually detects morale intent or can read our minds. Where do we draw the line?

I suppose it is up to the position to be filled. Does your applicant fad-followers have the right job qualifications to follow instructions or are you looking for those applicants that lead and think outside the box? Hmmm...
