The effort shows, Age of Empires works very well over 56k - much better than any of the other games I've played. Total Annihilation just flops over 56k... but then we usually have 1500 units total:-)
The worst I've seen so far is Unreal Tournament -- which I guess is understandable, 3D games by there very nature will always need lower ping times than RTS games.
What we need is a special modem standard just for games -- minimal compression and low pings. V.94 anyone?

Ah man! This is like something straight out of Babylon 5! Did JMS secretly right this article??!
Couldn't this device or something like it be used for other missions, such as the International Space Station, or for under-water missions?
Or even an implant! OK, lets see who can hold there breath the longest...
