Use triple cryptography - encode using a rotation and translation algorithm turning it into meaningless gibberish, transmit it inside random ICMP packets. Use a number of different translation matrixes in sequence for each packet, chosen arbitrarily. If the intercepting party can't understand your data, its as good as useless and passes by unnopticed. @:^)

Monopoly's need not neccessarily be enforced by government. Anywhere where large companies or groups of individuals conspire together to bring about a dependance upon a product or service, we have monopolies.

Microsoft can legitimately be called a monopoly due to its anti-trustish dealings. However more correctly it is those who work together with Microsoft to create a product dependence that are behind the monopoly. This is evident not only in a consumerism scenario but worldwide, particularly in electrical and oil companies.

Why else do you think solar power, electric cars et al have not yet become the norm? Its not that we have a lack of new means of creating power, its the fact of dependence on the larger bodies. People who revolt against the larger consumer corporations are often labelled hackers, weirdos, punk, whatever. (Then of course someone comes up with the bright idea of creating a monopoly out of ideas inspired by the subculture, and it becomes *shudder* fashion).

    Live long and prosper ;).

is whats its really all about, bottom line. These 2 large companies panda to those in typical often technophobic consumer culture. I find it interesting certainly the possibilities of this marriage of merchants. Those who read such culturally forward thinking sites as http://slashdot.org and http://www.2600.com don't take the views of the global society on face value. Instead we think for ourselves, evalulate and search for traps.

In this way techno-culture is really like the best of New Aged culture in one... healthy skepticism of half assed claims, both from the large companies and back alley publications. I believe this sort of person is what these large companies are really afraid of, and the stereotype of the informed Linux user is what they are really boycotting by disallowing Linux users.

Has anyone thought about integrating the capability into Mozilla to spoof the operating system info sent by the browser? I've never used AOL myself, but surely they need to get Operating System info in some way. Just a thought...
