When you're number one selling point is that your product will evolve with time to continue to be relevant for a certain time (which is the case of any smartphone maker since the smartphone market just changes so fast) I think it is VERY MUCH the same thing.
Nobody ever bough the iPhone or any Android or WebOS device to use it as it comes.
You expect your $700 device to be able to keep up to date (at least on the software side) for at least as long as you're paying for it which is 24 months if you bought it on contract.
If you're not expecting this just buy a Samsung feature phone, they can do pretty much the same things, cost twice as less and they get obsolete in 6 months.
It's been Apple's obvious marketing strategy over the past few years, the switch coinciding with the beginning of my boycott.
Apple has surfed on its tech-savvy, high quality, time resilient hardware image just long enough to have enough users to switch their strategy to a 2 years lifespan-hardware, hype-based strategy that makes me sick.
Now they seem stuck into a "virtuous" cycle of endless hype that brings them millions of new customers every years that is actually derived from the fact that they already have millions of customer.
Some sort of "it's cool because everybody gets it because it's cool" paradigm that I can neither understand nor bear.

I had hunted down my cookies and such and since I am behind a proxy + a router and then 9 different ADSL Box with 9 different IPs (which is really annoying for rapidshare who constantly yells at me for sharing my account BTW)
Anyway Since rapidshare couldn't figure I was only one person I was pretty upset Facebook and Google could track me down anywhere I go... like NewEgg for instance who has been literally stalking me over gmail and facebook to convince me to buy this stupid HTPC case I'm not going to anyway.

I strongly (yet respectfully) disagree. If you see word's features as being able to add up words typed on a keyboard to form phrases and display it on a screen then OK.
But Word (or OOo or whatever name Apple gave theirs) is not about that.
Take word 3, and tell someone with little to no training to type you a report to present to your customers (it has to be nicely paginated and all). This will take him AGES. I mean like a week and the result will suck badly.
Take the same rookie and give him Word 2007, I bet you he is done 5 times faster and the result is 10 times better ! That's feature improvement ! Sure it will have taken word 10 seconds to boot but WHO CARES ?
word is note gedit or notepad or nano!

Some want it to be lighter and snappier => Chrome. Yet I don't think Chrome is going to stay that light especially when you try to add the missing features through plug-ins.
Stock FF 3.6 vs Stock Chrome 4, I don't think Firefox is much heavier...

Assuming you were to actually use a 3TB HDD, I would think of only 2 scenarios :
A] A workstation with heavy files to manipulate => a somewhat recent hardware/software couple running most likely win7 / Linux/OS X and these OS don't have that kinda of limitation (the 2.1TB)
B] A NAS/fileserver/archiving/whatever.. and I really don't see why anyone would run windows XP/Me/98 on this except for the joyfull experience of instability and lack of features.
Just use a good OS and be done with this nonsense !
I mean when I want to play FEAR 2, I don't complain about how it doesn't work on ubuntu 6.04 with 2006 opensource GPU drivers..

More information is positive only if it's genuine first hand original information.
