Who decide if it's dead or not? Atleast Amiga Inc doesn't see the old Amiga as dead since they still sell Amiga 1200 & 4000 T systems. They even sell and support their current relese of the OS which is now up in version 3.5 (released in dec 1999). So your definition of dead sure is somewhat twisted.
Still, why even bother saying a computer system is dead?
I think Windows 95/98/NT 4 is dead since Windows 2000 is out. So can we forget about the too? Not to mention MacOS 9 since MacOS X is there.
The Amiga lives among those who still believes and uses it. It's the same with other operating systems.
