My view is that the press has finally crossed the line from where the money from microsoft ads is outweighed by the increased circulation from showing the downfall of the mighty. Like the press has always been, they will not leave this alone until they get their bleeding carcass.
Bill & MS had it coming. The kind of arrogance MS displayed at the trial and especially in their post court PR sessions was wearing thin on even the most pro-MS journalists.

Xmcd was and IS GPL'd. The information in your database was provided FREE to that repository by users. Setting it up to be a money making proposition with intrusive advertising is a slap in the face to all the people who uploaded data.
I'm strongly urging ALL the cd player authors to get together and write a competing GOOD standard and leave your fledgling idiot idea in the dust.
Or what. They are admitting that MS and the competitive pressures of the unix market need to have them slim down the company. Not a bad idea, really. The IPO idea is also a great way to raise cash.
While I have no interest at this moment in pursuing load balanced clusters in linux, it is something that I believe is a powerful and useful addition to the linux computing environment.
As such I respectfully implore you to consider releasing the load balancing and process migration tools under the gpl.
While this is of prime political interest within the open source community, it would garner tremendous publicity and also aid you in providing a rich tool set.
Other similar efforts like Beowulf have made significant impact in the programming community and it would be a shame if your efforts, especially as they are research oriented , go unappreciated, since the research community at large cannot benefit from it.
