I find it curious that the article was exclusively "comic books vs internet comics", and ignored any comparison to comic STRIPS. Are the newspaper comics strips simply not considered an art form? Or was it simply that they had comic book authors' opinions on file and wanted to show them venting about the new medium?

You want to be a representative of The People? Be it MP in the UK, Senator in the US, or whatever.
Try these simple exercises:
Every day, read a technical journal of no less than 500 pages. Write a 10 page summary, complete with sociologial impact over the next 5 years.
Every day, a different technical field.
Pass your summaries to 10,000 people. You fail if 10 people (out of the 10,000) REALLY don't like the conclusions you came to (even if they are correct).
Do these exercises for no less than 3 months, and come back to me about how stupid your representatives are. So stupid that they WANTED the job.
