Yes, the shows ability to find funny risque topics to exploit amazes me... Simpsons is a classic though... better no, but complimenting each other definitely.
Can this type II card be used as a boot device? It would make for some interesting OS swapping, while being able to keep the main filesystem mountable by most... err well 5GB I guess you dont really need the laptops internal HD for a filesystem do ya...
I hate that show because I spend 45 minutes enjoying the chefs and the humor and watching the food get cooked and then its midnight and the food is done and they are eating it and I'm starving and only a 5 * restaurant gourmet meal will satisfy me at that point....
I think you mean 20 million less people on the planet. Sure, there was a boom AFTER the war, but no.. the war did not create 20 million new people.... if you don't believe me just go ask the jewish communities.
Well Microsoft seems to enjoy lying to its users about the status of its online services; it wouldn't take that large of a leap of faith to believe they would make up something like that... trick open source/digital freedom fighters/call them what you will into believing that Microsoft cares about them... then do one of those last second "it's launched but uhh.. we cut that linux crap, just 'couldn't make it work' sorry...
besides being a bad joke, all you would do is martyr the fool, and we don't need that. Let him serve his 4 years and embarress the republican party, then hopefully we can get someone to run that a decent human being would actually want to vote for, as opposed to against (like last election)
Incorrect information has a tendency to travel faster and become more believed than truth does. People go to school for years to learn things about history, but if some media company made advertisements that stated the contrary *ahem*, most people will believe the advertisement. We are gullible and believe that people wouldn't tell us things unless they were true; as if there is some moral ground for advertising.
I'm still waiting and praying that the Berserk series will be released on DVD, although I don't think a US version was ever officially released even =(
It's the year 2001... Isn't it about time that inflation was brought to bear on the proverbial cost of one's opinions? Myself, I will start charging $0.18 for my thoughts from now on.
huh? They were called canals because people thought that there were martians who were building them. what incorrect translation? what general hysteria? war of the worlds?
Err... I don't think that this is the issue. The author is agreeing that the previous perception still stands true and is technically correct, but is not the actual reason that lift occurs. Therefore, proving the differences in airspeed would not prove or disprove this theory. The issue at hand seems to be whether or not it is air pressure which has been the classic explanation as the cause of lift, or the effects of a 'Coanda' effect, which the article describes as some tendency for fluids to 'stick' to surfaces.. which the article says causes lift by making the wing exert a force to counteract this (i think?).. anyways, the technical calculations and methods for determining lift etc are the same, it is merely the physical question as to what is actually occuring.
at least thats what I got from the article...once I read the book I'll post again.
Why do people keep trying to do this? it's not gonna work. The first slew of lawsuits from neck injuries will put any company out of business...it's as stupid as making full VR computer navigation goggles, etc....just dumb!
agreed. Katz is an optomistic idealist, however, and his ideologies reflect the massive counter-media misconceptions about technology and their use & distribution. I think everyone needs to slow down and start using their brain again whenever refering to computer technology and internet 'hype'... I actually find it kind of funny that 50% of us here could have predicted a giant stock crash of internet 'dot-com' stocks long before they did, but no real market analysts were able to say so publically... people en mass are stupid, let them flock where they will I suppose.
And I've yet to see that open source movements are a proven method of producing capital in this, our capitalist environment. Progression of intellectual property ideas and such sure, but no proven business models AFAICT
yes, the moderation system has one fatal flaw...idiots always enter into the equation. This is quite common actually, I've posted in the first 10 before with an interesting point, and gone back an hour later to see myself modded down and ignored because post #47 said the same thing. more than once.
I read the first book (and started to read the second, but I lost it somehow). I have not seen the mini-series and was reading through these comments to see if it was worth renting it on DVD. I personally liked and own the original Dune movie, it was too abrupt and lept off from the story in many places, but it was entertaining and interesting to see someone take such a difficult book and make it into a screenplay. When I first heard about the mini-series I scoffed, and trust me I still do...It will take convincing and I guess $4 to prove to me whether or not it is worth it..
and many of my friends have seen the original movie but have not read the book, and were able to follow the storyline perfectly fine, and understood the subtleties that refered to larger sections of the book itself. I guess its a difference of taste...
Let's see: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle: greeks. Solomon, Moses: hebrews. Who is the Westerner here?
ALL of them, you friggin moron! What do you think Western thought comes from, California?
Eastern would be Asia Major. Western is Asia Minor, Africa and Europe.
Again: Jesus was poor(*), Mahommed was poor(*), Buddha ran from his wealth into the poverty(*)
Show me a religios text that says: "get rich quick - make your followers give you money".
I happen to agree with the original poster here, often institutionalized religious practices corrupt. By centralizing beliefs into a figurehead (the pope) you often create corruption (the pope's are reknowned for their corruption in the renaissance). The problem is that many outsiders see that corruption and discard all religions as a result, insisting that their ideologies and beliefs are also corrupt. Baby, bathwater; you get the idea.
And Mohammad wasn't very poor by the time he died, why don't you look into that. (and Jesus' last supper doesn't look like crusts of bread and water to me).
Since Eros had enough gravity to let NEAR have a regular orbit in the first place, and also since NEAR landed at ~5mph, then we can assume EROS would and does have enough gravity to hold a small object. Define micro-gravity.
That this entire subject/article is based off of misinformation and hype brought about by media types/marketing departments of engine building companies. The concept if even plausable is not an easy thing to do or control, and this sort of thing has been discussed in the past. Also many similar scientific discoveries/topics have followed the same plan, for example Fusion power was going to revolutionize our power systems throughout the country in the beginning of the 2nd half of last century; we are still waiting for an efficient stable fusion power plant. This is why movies 30 years ago have flying cars 30 years in the future...people like to dream. I just hope some respectable scientists are put to task on investigating this and the hype people go discuss dotcoms' failure in the marketplace or something else stupid.

I think that may be somewhat correct if you are polling in 1946... or perhaps right after the war... but Vday I'm sure there weren't more people.

Would the moderator who set that this post is redundant at number 7 please step forward, we would like to stone you.
I think by "off-the-shelf" he meant a game that is brand new.

Television -- Free
Internet -- $9.99 (and shitty quality)
Ok, this must be redundant, but is there anything else to be said on this topic? Pure lunacy.
