The program is geared to any person who is bright, has finished an undergrad degree and has a strong application/desire to learn. The people applying do not necessarily have 'really nice' jobs. They are perhaps people who have just finished a liberal arts degree and really desire further education in computer science. what students get out of this is an opportunity to be exposed to and educated by some of the best thinkers in the field as well as, the unique opportunity of being a part of the Arsdigita culture for a year. As for social life; 12 hours a day leaves plenty of time to do other more sociable things. And a year is a finite period, if you need to do more 'socialization' you have the rest of your life.
