i have had nothing but bad times with xinetd, but that was awhile ago.
i remember it having trouble with utmp so that while logged into via ssh, doing a "w" would NOT report your session. is that fixed ?
i also remember xinetd being able to handle classless IPs for allow/deny. is that true anymore ? (could be very wrong about that)
to have ACLs listed in a separate file (i.e./etc/hosts.allow for tcpd) from the config file of the superserver is IMHO a *great* thing.
when i do get around to getting 7.1, i'll definitely remove xinetd and put back inetd, because libwrap is used so well by so many things i use that it's just not worth my time to screw around with it.
