I seem to recall "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" being about political corruption and the loss of innocence but also about refusing to give up and give in to the forces that be and fighting for one's beliefs. Maybe it's been a while since I've seen it, but I don't think it stands comparision with "Peter, Paul, and Mary".

Being 5 1/2 feet tall, ya, 100 pounds is alright. For the record I'm half a foot taller, 70. lbs heavier, and I usually feel alright, even though I could gain a little weight and it wouldn't hurt anything. I used to be in the 180-190 range before I stopped screwing around and started staying active (i.e. stopped being a lazy bum, especially in the summer time where it was like, get up, walk to computer, use computer, eat, go to the bathroom, repeat until bedtime and do it all again the next day..that shit's over with. Not only are you going to gain weight doing that, you're going to constantly feel like shit.
Yep, this has really made my morning...it makes me wonder why this all has been done, is it to protect ourselves from our all too human, mistake and injury prone selves? Making mistakes, getting hurt, and learning from it all is how one matures. Yes, a stupid, sedated population is easy to control, while an intelligent, informed population is more prone to speak out and rebel against what they percieve to be unfair and gross misuse of authority..they might even overthrow it. But as Animal Farm demonstrated, eventually the oppressed become the oppressers, a new rebel underground forms and the cycle begins all over again.
Will mankind be stuck in this loop for decades, centuries, millenia to come? Or is it just part of the process of humans governing themselves, and only anarchy or absolute tyranny can bring it to an end?
Wrigley Field was one of the first to have a corporate name, if you think about it..but if they did do something like that, Harry Carry, Jack Brickhouse, and all of the old time Cubbies would be spinning in their graves..and Cubs fans would be beating the doors of WGN down..(that might also happen if they dare consider tearing it down..)
I'm not sure whether he is in favor of technology or not..his environmental stance clashes horribly with his `information superhighway'-type statements..which one is it, Al Gore? Are you for or against technology?
I'm not sure if I've ever been as annoyed by anything on a computer screen as those damn bloody patronizing paper clips, smiley face balls, etc..one must look at things from another's perspective, though..one man's annoyance is another man's helper..*shrug* ah well, one shouldn't worry one's self too much about what other people are using/doing..
Yes, I like the new features on the site (the filters, the customizable front page..maybe now, I'll remember my password! =) ) but yes, I'm beginning to see a commercial element slowly creep in; is slashdot slowly becoming "_The_ Gateway For Nerds...the only thing that matters"? But it's not about money..right? =|

But who knows, maybe I'm being full of shit.
