So make it a req. How hard would it be to say break into teams and build games with client server comms and include some kind of database structure. Make it a competition or even better make it an open source collaboration. Then, to take the project even further have them combine the two games into one. This will show them the value of an open source environment and teach some people skills as well as increase knowledge.

Optimism and pessimism are simply a way to gauge weather or not people like/ argee with your opinion or not. I think this site is doomed to failure just due to the fact that anybody could load arbitrary code into the download and before you know it they have . Strong am I with the source Snarf
