More than anything, I wish dollars were symmetric -- meaning no "correct way up". There's nothing more annoying than someone handing you a big crumpled wad of bills and having to pile them all the same way.
I noticed on one distro with Mozilla pre-installed (I think it was Mandrake 7.1 but I'm not sure) that the permissions are set so that a non-superuser does not have write permissions to the plugins directory. So you can download the plugin but when it tries to install, it fails. Either download it as root or fix the permissions, and then try it again.
So if each person is only sharing a part of the file, would the RIAA have a case if this turned into another MP3 trading technology?
I suppose the RIAA could plead that since the entire file would be assembled on the end-user's computer it is still a copyright violation... but still, is this a loophole?
So does this mean Nautilus will be dropped by RedHat and Mandrake? Mandrake already includes just about every worthwhile window manager out there so I don't think they will drop it just yet... but if they do then it is certain death for Nautilus since no one will bother installing a dead-end technology themselves.
I thought Eazel was a step forward not just for *nix GUIs but for Desktop GUIs in general. Sure it had its problems, but no GUI is perfect (especially not Windows which has been designed after millions of dollars worth of "research").
However, is this the end of Eazel? NO! That's what open source is all about, someone will pick it up, whether it be IBM or some guy living in a basement. Eazel will not die this easily.
For as long as I can remember, I've tried it off and on hoping that it's gotten better.
For as long as you can remember? I've heard of people having short memories, but that's pushing it.
Now where did I set down my coffee mug...

The one and only reason I would run Linux on an XBox: Knowing I have a Linux box that Microsoft lost ~$150 to make.
Imagine! Video beamed right to your TV through the air. What's this world coming to?

I'm afraid it's just you.
