If you’ve ever tried to deploy antivirus software to thousands of endpoints, you probably learned to appreciate products by Symantec, McAfee, and Trend Micro. The same powerful ability to deploy updates to thousands of PC’s at dozens of office locations is also a major weakness.
When companies could afford decent staffing, new antivirus signatures, hot fixes and service packs were tested in-house on company standardized builds before deploying.
Budgets are so tight, that we’ve grown even more dependent on our vendors to do this for us.
You are at their mercy no matter who you choose.
