  1. Re:Lowtax, Something Awful, eFRONT. on Internet Ad Network Commentary · · Score: 1

Shit if that's what they have to do to keep great sites like www.somethingawful.com on the net then so be it. People that are on the net a lot (probably everyone reading this) will find ways to circumvent the new types of ads, so I don't expect my surfing experience to be lessened because of audio ads one bit. Some secretaries and AOL users having to hear 'SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY' a few times is fine by me if it keeps free sites on the net.

  2. FSAA on the GeForce on 3dfx Delays Voodoo5 Schedule · · Score: 1

I have a DDR GeForce card from ASUS in my computer. Yesterday I loaded up the Nvidia 5.22 drivers that allow you to enable FSAA. I fired up Q3 and just about shit my pants. It looks unbelievable. My framerate went to hell but I was able to lower the resolution to 8x6 and it without a doubt looked better than 10x7 with no FSAA, and I was still getting ~ 40fps. The best part about this is that I don't have a GeForce GTS, I have a regular GeForce DDR card. I love the fact that I've been hearing 3dfx hype FSAA for so long now and I download a leaked driver update for my old GeForce and BOOM I got FSAA too. Get the 5.22 drivers at http://www.reactorcritical.com , turn on FSAA in the driver properites, fire up an opengl game, and stand in awe. 3dfx may have a better FSAA, but that certainly doesn't out weigh T&L, AGP fast writes, and variety in card makers. Yet I still hear people yelling about how awesome the 6000 is, but for ~550$, and about a year life span, I can't see it becomming 3dfx's savior.

That really is what I'm looking for. I would prefer if it had Windows CE though. :-) It's list price for just the 4GB one is over 1000$ though. Would be hard to justify having 1500$ worth of sterio equipment in a 2000$ car. Of course I see a bunch of souped up geo metro drivers that would disagree with me.

  4. Need this for my hooptie on Build Portable Mp3 Player · · Score: 1

What I really want is a car MP3 player that has gigabytes of storage and a nice display listing. Almost every car CD player I've purchased has broken well before it's time. If someone could provide a stable car MP3 player with: 10+ GB of storage, an easy way to choose albums, and a fast way to transfer MP3s from my computer all for under 400$ I for one would buy it. I also got another idea for MP3s. It's a box that would sit next to your sterio with a remote and a network jack. It would hook up to a home network and be programable through a telnet type session. It could be pointed to a certain path on the network where a list of m3us are stored. Then through the remote you could cycle through the m3us and the mp3s stored in them. Maybe even have a display on the remote that lists current m3u and mp3. This would be a dream come sure for me. I would love to run mp3s over my computer speakers in the basement and my sterio upstairs, but I would fear interference running pre amp cables up there. I also don't feel like have a slave PC in my living room to serve up the mp3s to my sterio.
