The pilot with the spray was already announced in november 2008, and over I believe 60 stores in Rotterdam have been using it for a while now. McDonalds only recently installed it as well. But to supplement the original article, the DNA-spray has not yet caused a criminal to be nabbed, probably because stores that are outfitted with the spray haven't been robbed in the first place since they installed the spray. Though it still has to be seen how effective the spray is at catching robbers, it for now seems to be at least a great deterrent.
