  1. Re:Omnipoint on Net Access On The International Trip? · · Score: 1

This is very true. Most Omnipoint sales people do not know anything relating to the ability of their own equipment. Most sales reps will claim that there is worldwide access using any of their products. You will later find out that there is not, and will end up paying 2X as much as you did originally for the global access.

I feel MP3.com should be allowed to openly distribute copies of MP3's. They are charging for most of these MP3's, other than small-time bands seeking promotion. They should then pay loyalties to the contracting record labels of each artist. Without burning full-length CD's, I do not understand how MP3.com can be liable for cheating musicians out of their money.

Agreed. People that have come along the internet with malicious intent are ruining thousands of dollars worth of software and equipment for sheer fun. I think I am supported when I say: This is wrong. People with malicious intent have the ability to harm millions of people and then say "I didn't mean to."
You make a file capable of crawling people's address books, deleting files, and corrupting programs, and then claim you didn't know that would happen.

  4. Re:P166 on Creating The Ultimate CD-Burning Machine? · · Score: 1

It may be a little bit of both actually. The speed of the machine may effect the conversion time. Burning on a slower speed usually helps to improve the clarity of the CD and the sharpness of the overall sound. You should consult your owner's manual that came with your computer (If You Bought It New) and find a local computer store that deals with Pentium MHZ Chips. Your computer can probably handle about 233 and it shouldn't cost more than $89. Just slap that chip in there and then see if it's any better. Even if it's not, your computer will still be faster. Most musicians that actually have copies of their music made through MP3 formatting or devices such as MP3 players/computers have to be quite rich in the first place for that type of acknowledgment from fanatics anyway. So in other words, they have a large sum of money already, as does the record label which produces their tracks/albums. They should concentrate more on their music and devotion to their fans, rather than worrying about how much money they are gaining or losing. They are rich (99 out of 100) already. I think that burning CD's should be perfectly legal and that making MP3 files should also be.
