I'll prolly get flamed fer this but whatever...my take on macs is as follows: They're awesome "technically". They outperform equivalent PC machines all the time and they look great along with having one of the best OS's I've ever used. My biggest problem is that I'm an online game junky and that means you usually have to wait about a year before you get the same title that came out for a PC ported to a mac and I'm impatient. period. thats all that sucks about em, most companies bust out graphics and sound and design packages for macs easily, but the (most of) game industry is back in the shallow end of the pool afraid to take the plunge. It sucks, I run 3 boxes at home because of those sort of issues. I guess i just wish that there would be a unified standard for systems and OS's so that yer not stuck with various different architectures and whatnot. Maybe thats what we all need to do now...create standards for hardware and software which destroys the whole "my system is better than yours" crap that goes on. One type of computer based on the best traits of all the different types and then one OS based on the best traits of all the different OSs...some startrek shit here really, they don't have different computer systems in the future:)..Open source everything, hardware, software, everything that comprises the core of the system....companies still make money off of add on software (games, graphics, music, word processing, you name it)...but the box and the shell are all the same. If anyone knows of any sort of farsighted plans on action I'd like ta hear more about it, but honestly I'm pretty sure theres nothing of the sort....companies, and even the open source movement are too short sighted to pull something like this off. Everyone wants to own the market instead of the altruistic method of doing "the best for all involved"....anyway..thats my piece and if I can get my ass outta debt in time I'll be hoppin on the MP G4 bandwagon..alright...bye
M$ is mad that y'all said mean things about them. Good. Screw em...there isn't a damn thing they can do about it, especially considering the disclaimer made by/. . They CAN go after the people who made those particular comments. So, now they'll get together w/ Metallicrap and get NETPD's card and give em a call, then they'll find your house and send some muscled suits in to bust a few in the chops and force you to make a public apology on MSNBC. The M$ gestapo is just around the corner...watch yer backs.
Fact: This is a script and only causes problems when some clown at the office opens it up without having a clue what it is. Fact: The WSH is a cool feature (I guess) but has too much power over the registry Fact: It is neither MS's fault nor the script writer's fault, its the publics fault for playing with computers and relying on them so much without knowing what the hell they are doing with them. Fact: Who cares anymore? This kindof shit will continue to happen for as long as we have computers. It is human nature to figure out ways to screw up the system. Contrary to what everyone wants you to think, we are not a hive colony, we are individuals, and we all have our little quirks, some of us just like to break stuff..without people breaking things there'd never be any advancement in technology.
Heres how it costs people money. Say yer a graphic artist at a web design company. You just got done making some sweet logo for yer new client and you have the meeting with the client in 15 mins. You get an email (ILOVEYOU)..pop it open...all hell breaks loose...because you were a dumbass for saving yer shiney new logo concepts in.jpg format you just lost yer work..you go to the meeting...the client bugs...yer out a contract for some random amount of money..on top of that the client is going to tell everyone he/she knows that you suck ass...so theres even less work for ya. Now if you were a smart Graphic Artist you be on a mac anyway...but thats not the point..graphic artists are not usually computer savvy...they can just draw.
Saw a write up iin Popular Mechanics a few months back about these items..cool stuff..1 was this AIWA and the other was a portable CD player that also will play CDs that you burned MP3s onto..now Metallica can cry even more
OK...that Hot Rod Joystick Control Panel is the f**kin S*IT!!! Damn....I am so glad you slapped that link up, I highly doubt I'd have ever found that..thanks, and on further...its cool Midway and Macromedia popped those games out on Shockwave, I'm a big fan of the stuff myself having taken tons of classes on Lingo and whatnot (money is good), but I can't really say its worth it...if yer that paranoid with breaking the law by d/lin a ROM which is almost certainly not being traced by anyone and which would land you nothing in regards to fines etc etc....then enjoy shockwave..otherwise get MAME or Retrocade or any of the other fine emu's out there and play for fun. If yer that worried about breaking the law then theres most likely a deeper problem with ya (Freudian anal fetish?)

It does play MP3s that you've written onto CD-Rs....the whole disk doesn't need to be crunched into one big MP3
