  1. for the love of god! on PGP Ruled as Relevant For Criminal Case · · Score: 1

Not only is this horrifying to think about what this means for everyone else, but I can easily see the next ruling.
"Locked Doors can be construed as criminal intent."
What are you trying to hide from the police? What do you not want any police officer that comes walking past to see? DOORS = EVIL!!!

  2. Re:crypto is still safe on IBM Tech Detects & Changes Spin of Single Electron · · Score: 1

opps... I read into it wrong... I was thinking that the CmdrTaco was talking about quantum Cryptography, not quantum computing. Quantum computing relys on the spins within fiber optics, which should help explain my previous statements. So I will be the first to say, my mistake.

  3. crypto is still safe on IBM Tech Detects & Changes Spin of Single Electron · · Score: 1

Reading the article, there is one big thing that happens when IBm detects the spin... THEY HAVE TO CHANGE THE SPIN, and then from that they can figure out what it was previously. To while they will be able to figure out one network packet of cypher text, the recieving side will notice the change, and the communication will be terminated. That is not even taking into account how long it would take them to measure the spin. which might lead to dropped packets. Not to mention they would have to grab all the packets and measure every single electron. Which means the Bob is not getting anything, when he is suppost to.

  4. IT in the Navy on IT Training in the Military? · · Score: 1

Being currently in the Navy, I can say that there is a rate(aka job) in the Navy call the IT rate. Now the break down of this rate is two sided. On one side it is everything to do with surface radio and comms, and the other side is everything relating to computer admin.
The basic job skills are basic admin, with A+ certification, and a chance at Network + cert. Now the great thing about all this is that for any cert test you pass, the Navy will pay you back the money you layed down for the test. So for those $1000 + tests that you know you can pass, that is very useful.
But ultimatly it all depends on your own drive to learn, to work, and to play. To make any serious changes to the existing networks, you have to prove the cost effictiveness of the change, and show how secure, and pretty much just how much better it all is. But if you are good enough you can do what ever you want, you have one of the highest security clearences, free schooling, travel, all for the cost of having to follow a few orders. But if you are truely that good, then they will leave you alone mostly.
