So let me get this straight. The XBOX360 console, which is more than capable of surfing the web by itself, needs an ad-fueled tablet or other controlling device to enable web functionality. WTH is wrong with the keypad they already have?

  8. Re:SyncToy on Ask Slashdot: Syncing Files With Remote Server While On the Road? · · Score: 1
Forgot to add - SyncToy has three modes: Sync, Echo, Contribute. Sounds like you need Contribute.

Synchronize: New and updated files are copied to both left and right folders. So, in our example, no matter where you make the change, in My Documents or in the portable disk, both folders will have the same files. If you rename or delete a file, the action will be repeated for the left and right folders.

Echo: When you make any changes (new files, updated files, renames, deletions) the changes are only applied from left to right. So, any changes you make in your portable drive will not be reflected to your My Documents folder.

Contribute: New and updated files and renames on the left are copied to the right. The deletions on the left are not applied to the right.

I will probably get flamed because I am recommending a Microsoft solution on Slashdot (gasp! i know!) however I have had great luck with Microsoft SyncToy for backing up files and folders. If you have a network drive (VPN or similar) this will ensure everything is echoed (mirrored) to your target destination.

I prefer mirroring certain files this way as you do not have to resort to a particular backup software to 'unpack' them. If you need to access the files, just open them up. This is especially handy for photos and other media files.

....If you care about the TSA's abuse of the common traveler... never walk through the scanner. Always take the pat down alternative. If enough of us do it. We win.

So true! I do the same every time I travel and that is often. I usually announce it at the top of my lungs that I would like to "OPT OUT PLEASE". I get a kick out of the TSA agents who have to tell you what they are about to do and then sometimes ask me why I don't want to go through the scanner. I tell them I work in the radio industry and that those things are untested and dangerous and if I was them I would stand far away from them as they are probably getting exposure just by being in the same room all day.

    1. Airport has mm wave scanners or backscatter scanners but is not using them. Metal detector only. (Best scenario)

    2. Airport has mm wave scanners or backscatter scanners and alternate between using them and a metal detector for every other person in line

    3. Airport has mm wave scanners or backscatter scanners and metal detectors and you get to CHOOSE what line you want to go through...(good scenario)

Yes, i did get groped this past Friday by the TSA. I yelled "I OPT OUT" at the top of my lungs. Not too many people realize they can opt out (which only means you opt in for a groping). This "let me see your papers" has got to stop. Just let us passengers carry whatever we want and when someone is out of line they will get what is coming to them.

The problem here is that the passenger didn't know their rights or they were forced against their will. With the former, its shame on them. With the latter, it's lawsuit time.
