  1. TOTAL DAMN ARROGANCE on The Cost of Bug Fixes · · Score: 1

IBM has released 40 fixpacks for Warp 3.0 and 10 for Warp 4.0. I have also used Visualage for C++ and IBM never charge me for upgrades on that either. From my experience with IBM they do not charge for bug fixes and often they incorporate new features with these fix packs.

  2. A FEW POINTERS ;) on Microsoft claims Linux provides weak value · · Score: 1

How about KDE? The KDE developers how created an extensible and easily programmable environment for Linux. The intent was not just to be used for the programmers involved but, to help the linux community. I have been learning how to program KDE apps and becuase of the way that the system is designed this is very easy. KDE is more stable, runs faster, and is more configurable than the windows desktop. One of the primary purposes of KDE is to make linux more used friendly so that newbies can use it and this includes the suits. That is why all options can be configured from the gui and not require the commandline.

  3. Why do we care about windows benchmarks on Tom's Hardware benchmarks K6-3 and PIII · · Score: 1

Why not have someone who has Linux benchamark them. Linux seems to not care very much about which x86 cpu you have because it doesn't have optimizations for most of their speical features anyway. This would tell us the best chip for Linux. I have used OS/2, Linux, Windows 9x, Windows NT, and many others and it seems the operating system does impact the performance that you can expect. Just becuase something is the best cpu for windows does not mean that it is the best Linux CPU.
