Some people might think this is a stupid question, because it ignores the obvious, but here goes... Isn't this America? Why do we - The People - allow OUR government to (try) to shutdown Napster? SCREW THEM, we are Americans and we are the voters, we are supposed to have the power to change things. The whole MP3 debate is a non-issue, if 20Million Americans want it, we should have it! But here's the obvious - We don't have any power over our own government, they are simply going against the people's wishes for the benefit of the big corporations, once again.
How about this vision: Create a cooperative Internet radio station with programming designed and chosen via an open-source style project. With people distributed all over America, using low-power radio equipment and a high-speed net connection; re-broadcasting the Internet station all over. If you are driving down the road and where you may typically lose your favorite low-power station, you'll be picked up by another low-power station. Beautiful! Distributed radio!!
This subject brings to mind a question I have been debating lately. I have a Toshiba SD2109 DVD player that has the Color-Stream outputs, as well as a Super-VHS output. I am going to buy a new tv, probably 32 inch and I was wondering if I should spend more to get a Toshiba tv with the Color-Stream inputs? Is there an appreciable difference in quality between S-VHs and color-stream?
