I've been playing your games since Keen. Thanks for the good times! Anyhow, my question is as follows..
As new technology is becoming available, more radical engine improvements can be made to create better games. This in combination with the fact that there is a demand for large scale internet games, how far off do you see virtual 3D worlds indefinately large as far as the software is concerned, but Quake3-like or better in detail (i.e. modularized servers/worlds on multiple machines)?
I would guess that Id Software is on top for three major reasons.
1) Id was the first company to do a good first person shooter (Wolf).
2) Id (accidentally?) landed on the fact that when the game is able to be modified by the game community, the game's replay value is greatly increased.
3) Multiplayer, multiplayer, and multiplayer. Playing bots is boringly predictable, even Reaper Bots became easy kills after enough time of playing them..
Id was (and still is) a very forward looking company. Fortunately so, since now Carmack has the bucks to sit on until the game is just right. Right on John! Thanks for the games!

Thanks for concentrating on DM for Q3!
